Instead of traditional chair lifts, most of the smaller ski resorts in the Alps have T-bars. The T-bars I've seen before you hold onto the "T" and are pulled up the slope. These you sit on the "T" and ride up, or snowboarders have to straddle the "T." Picture of Lindsay below:
The tricky part is that you ride for almost 10-15 minutes. It sounds relaxing and easy, but it isn't. The views are nice though. The road going up the mountain is the St. Goddard's pass. It is closed during the winter because of all the snow and ice. The tunnel is at the base of the mountain and is 21 miles long!
Moments after sliding down the slope on my butt - which is fun for the first 30 feet or so, after that it's just snow in your face - we realized beer was needed to make it the rest of the way down. Actually, the rest of the group skiied down. I took the snow groomer down (my knee came out of socket and skiing would have been tricky).
